AB-401: Drug Encapsulation with Optimeos

Founded by CBE Professor Robert K. Prud’homme and sponsored by the Gates Foundation, Optimeos is a startup that creates next-generation drug encapsulation techniques to deliver therapeutic loads. Most recently, the company developed an Inverse Flash NanoPrecipitation platform capable of capturing hydrophilic residues (i.e. RNA) with unprecedented robustness and accuracy.

Alimtas worked with Professor Prud’homme to conduct scientific-based due diligence into antisense oligonucleotides (a rapidly growing market of hydrophilic therapies) while researching potential areas for synergy. At the end of the project, the team pitched to the startup’s board of directors, advising them on the profitability of entering into the ASO market.
